Leonard’s Mills
Oct. 31, 2008 · 3 Comments
Wednesday morning I visited one of my friends, AJ Whitney, in Old Town, Maine. I had a great time talking to him about his photographic workflow and checking out his new gadgets. He’s a great guy with phenomenal talent. If you aren’t familiar with his work you should do yourself a favor and head over to his Flickr photostream.
Before heading to work AJ directed me some of his favorite places to shoot. My favorite of the locations is Leonard’s Mills. It is in the middle of the Penobscot Experimental Forest in Bradley, Maine. I didn’t see another human the entire time I was there. The old saw mill and other buildings are open, so you can look inside, but dark since there’s no artificial lighting. There’s a headpond, dam, footbridge, saw mill, covered bridge, and other buildings.
If you get up to the Bangor area you should definitely check it out!
