2 for 1 at Sea Dog Brewing Company

A couple days ago I saw a tweet advertising 2 for 1 breakfast at Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland.

Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out, mostly because it’s an excellent way to get a day off to a great start. Kirsten and I are always looking for exceptional breakfast restaurants. Our old favorite, Eggspectations, recently closed. We used to take the girls there for Festibond. Sea Dog Brewing Company is now in their old location!! How cool is that?

It’s hard to pass up a 2 for 1 deal on breakfast, so Kirsten and I headed up there after walking the girls to school.

Sea Dog Brewing Company brews one of my favorite beers, Blue Paw Wheat Ale. I like to blend it with Guinness (perhaps I should switch to Sea Dog Stout) to make a “Black and Blueberry”. I was introduced to the brews during a recent tour of the Shipyard Brewery in Portland. The two companies are affiliated.

Breakfast was amazing! Our waitress, Gaby, was exceptional. I could have talked to her all day; by the end of our visit I felt like we’d made a new friend. She was wonderful!

We started with beer samplers. I had the full sampler–ten three ounce beers–and Kirsten a half. The only beer I didn’t like was the Owl’s Head Light Ale. It tastes like the swill you’d get from popular American mega-breweries. The other nine were excellent!

The food was every bit as exceptional as were the beers. I had a corned beef hash burrito with home fries and Kirsten had some kind of eggs Benedict with guacamole.

I’ll definitely be back for breakfast or in the evening to watch a game at the bar.
