If you’ve been on these pages recently you will have gathered that I’ve caught the snowboarding bug. Big time. I go any chance I can. Thanks to awesome perks from work and a few friends I haven’t had to buy a lift ticket yet, which is really nice.
Cranmore is a relatively small mountain with few trails, and even fewer were open when I was there. That was okay, since the two runs I rode all day were a blast! I took the Skimobile Express lift, which is a quad, to the summit and rode down “Split Decision,” which, I realized later, is a black diamond trail. From there I took another black diamond, “Middle,” to the blue “North Slope.” It was a great run.
My second trip up the quad I came down the same trails, except went left after Middle to “South Slope,” a nice soft green with lots of powder and a steep enough slope that I could go fast. I loved this run so much I stayed on it all day. There was some ice on Middle, which is pretty steep, but after that difficult part I could pick up speed with confidence and practice the carving turns I had learned so much about watching YouTube “Learn to snowboard” videos.
Cranmore is a nice mountain that I would definitely visit again when more of the mountain is open.
