A Weekend in Boston

Hayley asked for a weekend trip to Boston for her birthday. This was that weekend. After ingesting too many Dunkin Donuts Boston Creme donuts, we hit the road. After a short walk from our hotel in Revere, we rode the subway into Boston.

Because it was Sunday morning, many of the shops in the downtown shopping district were closed. That was okay, since we weren’t there to shop. Pedestrian traffic was very low. Unusually so. We spent some time in the Granary Burying Grounds before strolling through the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden. We enjoyed a light snack on the edge of the Lagoon before continuing our walk to the Boston Public Library, which was closed.

From Copley Square we took the T (subway) back to Government Center, from which we walked to Faneuil Hall to enjoy street performers before heading to the Custom House Tower’s observation deck.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the airplane activity at Boston’s Logan International Airport. Jenna was excited for me to show her my old apartment in the heart of the financial district. We were the first people up to the deck, and the last to leave, as per usual. From there we rode the T to the airport and called the shuttle to take us back to our hotel. The rest of the afternoon was spent in the pool (those goggles were a GREAT purchase!), watching tv and just hanging out together.

*note – Papa Jacks’s Pizza in Revere is awesome! Get the ziti and meatballs.

Monday was spent swimming and at the Museum of Science in Boston.

It was a wonderful weekend.

  1. I enjoyed reading your post. Loved the pictures. Enjoyed the weekend together!

  2. Hi, I found this page searching for access to the custom house observatory. How did you get up there? Did you just ask at the front desk? Was there a charge? Thanks!

    1. The observation deck is open at 14:00 daily. They charge a $3 “donation.” Basically they put you in the elevator and from there you are on your own. You may stay up there as long as you like, and you are unsupervised. They have large tourist binoculars up there, which are great for watching the activity at Logan.

  3. Thanks! I havent been able to find that info anywhere online. I look forward to visiting.
