Hayley is turning ten Tuesday. She loves to bake. My buddy Suzanne is a professional baker. Their personalities are similar. You see what’s happening here, don’t you? I had asked Suzanne to bake Hayley a cake for her birthday. Not only did she accept, she invited Hayley over to help her bake it. How perfect is that?!
When I told Hayley Friday evening, she was SO excited. So was I. I knew they’d get along swell.
I dropped Hayley off at Suzanne’s yesterday just before 13:00, and went to Bard to do some blogging and work. At around 16:00 I returned, but they weren’t anywhere near done. They were, however, having a great time. I tried to stay out of their way, and only snap a few pictures. Luckily, Kate had been there the whole time and did an excellent job documenting the event for me and the world.
Thank you, Suzanne. xoxoxo Happy Birthday, Hayley. :)
Hayley uses Suzanne’s little snot dude to separate the egg whites from the yolks. Gross!
Tonight we ate the cake, which was extraordinarily delicious in every way. So dense and moist and rich and fruity. Pure bliss.
Suzanne and Kate told me to get Hayley a scooper and cake decorating lazy susan. I found a scoop, and will have to get the lazy susan later. I’ve never seen anybody so excited about a kitchen tool. It’s good to have hobbies about which you can be passionate, I always say. I’m glad Hayley loves cake baking, because I love to eat them.
