Holly and I met in May, so her 41st birthday was the first since I’ve known her. I wanted it to be special. I got Henry and Eva to help me plan a breakfast in bed and buy greeting cards. We had a dinner for the family and an intimate party at the loft for a few friends Saturday night.
Breakfast in bed
Breakfast in bed consisted of toast with lox, avocado, and tomato; bacon; orange juice; French-style creamy scrambled eggs; an orange; bowl of fresh berries; and plenty of French press coffee.
It was nice to plan breakfast with the kids and make Holly feel special and loved.
A family dinner
I hosted a family dinner in the evening. Holly’s parents and brothers drove down to the loft, and Skye and Hayley were here. I made chili and corn bread and Paula brought a garden salad with pomegranates.
After dinner Holly opened a few gifts and we sang “Happy Birthday” to her and ate cake.
A party with friends
A few friends came over Saturday evening for an intimate get-together to celebrate Holly. I’d hired Hayley and Emily to mix cocktails and serve appetizers, and they did a fantastic job.
I made bourbon balls and Hayley made spicy fudge. The girls offered a selection of classic cocktails and various beers. Tory and Jarek brought wine, which was nice since I know nothing about it. Hayley and Emily prepared crudités, charcuterie, antipasti, and various fruits and sweets.
Tory and Jarek were here, as well as Jeff and Wendy. Later Skye and her friend Ryan showed up. We shared stories and laughed. Later in the evening we played a hilarious and awkward game of “Cards Against Humanity.”
Happy Birthday, Holly. I love you with all my heart. ♥️
